The Accused
Jennie Clark, Attorney at Law, LLC is an experienced domestic violence attorney in representing both petitioners and respondents in restraining order cases. Thus, she has experience representing both the victims and those accused of domestic violence. She is also an experienced criminal defense trial attorney and civil plaintiff’s attorney. Her goal is is to secure the best resolution possible under the circumstances. It is important to have a lawyer that understands the difficult emotional and legal issues you are facing who will work with you to you explore your options, objectively evaluate the evidence and develop the best strategy based upon the law, the evidence and client needs.
Some may ask how Ms. Clark can represent both sides of such an important issue as domestic violence. Unfortunately, some have politicized domestic issues with a strict "victims" versus "abusers" mentality, which is sometimes appropriate. However, "black and white" thinking isn't always appropriate when the world is mostly different shades of gray with some pure black and pure white in the mix. Yes, pure evil and pure goodness exist, but most human behavior is a mix of good and evil, which makes life interesting. After all, most petitioners and respondents were "in love" at one point in time. Each case is about a a real life person playing the role of petitioner versus another real life person playing the role of respondent. Both parties have their own unique stories and personalities that transcend any political agenda. Regardless of who is right and who is wrong in a particular situation, both parties are usually feeling the emotions and tragedy of love gone sour and often feel betrayed by someone whom they thought they loved and trusted, feeling deep emotional pain and sometimes confusion.
Each case needs to be analyzed on its own merits and Ms. Clark does her
best to look beyond any political agenda and see the reality of each
case and the stakes involved. She then forms a strategy based upon
her prediction of how the situation will likely play out in the legal
justice system. Of course, it helps if her clients are truthful
and forthcoming with her, so that she can avoid surprises at trial!
If you are looking for an
attorney to tow party line of a particular political agenda, look
elsewhere. If you are looking for an attorney who will do her best
to understand your actual situation and give realistic advice, then you
are in the right place.
Undoubtedly, some cases need to go to trial. In other cases, both parties benefit from crafting a settlement agreement through their attorneys that minimizes risk for both parties and ultimately serves the needs of both parties better than a “solution” imposed from the court. Both victims and those accused should seek legal counsel sooner, rather than later, because these cases are often on an "expedited" trial schedule, which means that trial may occur within a couple of weeks. Even an experienced attorney needs adequate preparation time.
Whether you are the survivor/victim or the accused, Ms. Clark recommends that you explore both of the links: Survivors/”Victims | The Accused to gain a general understanding of the stakes involved with your domestic violence matter.
Jennie Clark, Esq. can only represent one party in this situation, not both. Thus, she will not be representing both the petitioner and the respondent. She zealously represents only her clients and the opposing party should not expect advice from her, unless it is mutually beneficial to both parties. First and foremost, she tries to obtain the best possible results for her client.
